Breakfast Meeting?

Post by Snackmore »

Amongst the normal email spam I received this invite today

I am currently a member of a business networking group that is actively
>> looking to find a Vending Services provider to refer business to.
>> Are you looking for more business and would like to come along to one of
> our
>> meetings to meet with some local businessmen and women from this area?
>>
>> We hold breakfast meetings every Friday morning at ................... from 6.45 a.m. until 9 a.m.
>>
>> I would like to invite you along as my guest so you can learn more about
> the
>> members of the group and to find out if you would be interested in
>> generating a steady source of referral business for yourself with us.

I thought initially was this a con? Its a £10 charge per meeting.

I intend to go this week, has anyone else done similar and had any success?

Sounds like a fab way to network and dish out some business cards???

Your thoughts?
Steve

I keep meaning to do one Steve, they do work. Most of the members tend to be small businesses though so probably only any good for sweet towers. I would go on and give a pitch about raising money for charity and providing a service for staff at the same time. And make sure they know its not a box that will get robbed!

Well I went on Friday, roughly 25 or so people there, all very friendly and clearly pass work to each other and spread the word during there daily contacts, a good idea in principal. As one of them said its like having 25 sales people out there for you.

However you have to go every Friday morning to a meeting lasting 2 hours, also pay £10 a time as well as over £700 for 2 years membership! So roughly £1750 over 2 years!

They had invited another vending company who are nationwide so met a good contact in their sales manager who said that they would pass smaller sites to me as they can't cope with them :Jig:

We shall see

I turned down the idea of membership however as I can't commit to weekly pow wows although I see that it does work for some
