'Sticky' Threads

Post by Quinch »

Matt

I'm sure you probably know this but some forums have what they call 'stickies' which are threads that cover topics that are regularly asked about, especially by people new to the forum.

They are basically to help people and stop people asking the same question others have asked several times previously or having to dig through previous posts with the forum search engine. They are normally placed in a permanent position above other posts so anyone going to that section will always see them. Anything can become a sticky thread but the normal criteria is an important topic or ongoing thread that is regularly added to. I assume site admins/mods decide what deserves 'sticky' status.

Apologies if this itself has already been mentioned but I couldn't see it anywhere.
