Tutorial showing how to dremel out an old £1 carrier plate.

Post by Bolz »

Hi, has anyone made a tutorial on how to dremel an old coin carrier plate e.g clenport 81pot tower to accept the new £1 coin?
I've done loads of reading on here about people doing it but I still can't seem to grasp it without seeing footage.

Many thanks

ive done a video for tomy mechs

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQEu8sXoYK-GIIEbtNIWpzA?view_as=subscriber

tub towers are easy, take back plate off removing 4 screws, and align coin plate at top (where coin is inserted) grind sides of plate until new pound coin goes in and turns round with fingers freely, job done, only other thing you may have to do is take pawl (little metal lever where pound coin has to pass) out and manually round edge off so new pound coin lifts and passes through.
any issues in box me

regards

no probs and well done, just make sure coin turns fully round in the gap with your fingers. few of us got caught out with that and turned up on site to find new pound coin stuck in mech and machine empty from free vending

Hi Guys,

Just an addition to all of Ades good advise. If you put an old pound coin in the mech and turn it 180 degrees (so the coin drops out of the bottom). You can grind the carrier in this position to fit the new pound coin. Therefore there's no need to take the mech apart to convert. The pawl only usually needs rounding so the old coin continues to pass too (not usually necessary for the new coin only). This makes the process super fast
