Releasing tough catches on Clenport sweet towers

Post by dorsetvending »

Just had a real battle releasing the catches on 2 coin mechs. Really sharp sides to the void where u put your finger and catch didnt wanna budge. Used a hook to break spring in the end. Any tips on getting the bloody things off easier?

flat head screwdriver is my weapon of choice... use it from the inside to try and put more pressure on the catch i.e. reach it without cutting your fingers apart and failing that gently lever the coin mech loose from the front and then cut down the side where the catch is so it's easier next time.

if it's so tight you can't get under the mech just use a hammer and knock the screwdriver gently under as if it was a chisel, if you're gentle then any damage to the surrounding base won't be noticeable to customers.

I use the back of a condiment spoon, small enough to position easily and the cueved edge grips the spring loaded leaver then pull down to release it. If its a Clenport your having trouble with, it must be 10 years old, as on all newer model the leaver is eassily accessable.
