computer problem

Post by Vendingwarehouse »

I've been wondering why my computer has been so slow lately , really for the past 3 months. I've tried everything , Disk clean up, clearing cache , disk defrag, reducing bin size, scanning, you name it I've tried it . I've even had the broad band suppliers out doing tests on the line .Alas I found out tonight what it was. Compatibility view in the page setup was on and it was checking every page you asked for ,for compatibility with internet explorer. I'm not sure if it came on an automatic update from Microsoft or an add on with something else. However it's now off and my computer is back to normal.
:tischkante:

Just thought this may help someone else somewhere along the line.

It would have come with the IE8 update.

I also found that Spybot Search & Destroy slows Internet Explorer down like crazy! (It never used to).

You sound like a computer wizz Daz!! I looked at venderbase it looks really good. I use a lotus appoach database which is easy to set up. The microsoft one does my head in so i gave up on it

Ive often thought about using a pda instead of my filofax for tower stock control on sites. Maybe there is a market there for you?? Mainly just for having a copy of product sales in each site!!

I am a bit of a wizz Brian, all self taught too :bounce:
I used to do PC repairs and builds for people I used to work with when I worked in the Vauxhalls factory.

I taught myself MSAccess to write Venderbase and also considered a PDA add on for it, for on site data entry, but there wasn't enough demand for it to justify me buying a PDA myself.
I'm getting an IPhone soon, and also considered doing an IPhone App version of Venderbase, but you can only develop for the IPhone using a Mac, and I dont have one and never plan to have one :(

If someone comes up with a way to develop IPhone Apps on a PC, then i'll deffo give it a go.

Daz
