Re: Take a look at this
Hello everyone and thanks Ross for inviting me, i have left an introduction so have a read.
The machines are made in the UK at the moment and i will be honest and say that £525+Vat is COST!!! so i don't make a penny selling them. I hope to make money from selling the stock.
Also try to remember that the machines require electric so operate from a battery or mains so cost more to make than a tubz vending or Snack A Can machine and they are made from metal not plastic.
I am looking to make the machine abroad in the future to reduce costs and make a good ROI for guys/gals like you.
With regards to the cost of the tubes this could also come down when i can find a manufacturer who is a bit cheaper. It costs a lot of money to get the samples tested to make sure the glow sticks are safe for the Uk. I would say even now a realistic cost for the tubes would be £1.15+vat.
I would like your feedback on what i can do to make it a viable business.
I haven't sold any machines yet purely because i am not happy with a few design issues.
I simply will not risk any reputation by selling a dud.

Hi Vend and Glow and welcome aboard, like your ethics ideas and honesty.
Do think that the product is too expensive to buy for an operator but would suggest £3.00 is the right vend price. Ideal for clubs people will buy anything with alcohol in them, you only have to look at Naughtyvends blow up sheep!
How many items can your machine vend at a time too? Would be ideal as a bolt on to washroom vending machines.
I wish you all the luck with your venture
Steve

Hi Steve what would be a good price for an operator to buy at? I should also point out i will reduce some of the items in the tube as there is a lot in there so this will reduce the price further.Snackmore wrote:Hi Vend and Glow and welcome aboard, like your ethics ideas and honesty.

The machine has 4 columns and vends just the one product, however one of the design changes will mean it can vend multiple products, like inflatable guitars, saxophones, microphones etc. All good stuff for student bars etc.
What kind of margin do you like to see on a product to make it worth your while?

Re: Take a look at this
I see this as a toy product. All my toy suppliers conduct health and safety on all imported products which costs money. They make their money back with high volume sales year after year. With a cost of £1.15+VAT I don't think that you will achieve that. At a vend price of £4 I see it as a low volume specialist novelty vend to adults. If you want to achieve volume sales you have to appeal to kids Also ,why yet another wall mounted machine to vend a toy product?
If you could bring the cost down to 40-50p, capsulate them, vend @ £2 through a big floor standing Bouley toy vendor, then there is a ready market to be tapped. Go to Butlins any playcentre in fact any area where there are loads of kids about and you'll see these machines all over the place. Think of re packaging the product, sell individually 50p £1 and £2. I have 150 machines already to take the product.
As I see it, it's a big investment to sell a product with big 'one off appeal'.
Pete

Re: Take a look at this
Hi,
As an “X” clubber myself” these things were great and everyone used to have a glow stick in there hand, we would buy them from army shops or fishing /camping shops, But all the bigger clubs in the big citys sell there own, Or at least did then.(cant remember what they cost) This could work but no good in my area as there are only a few clubs round here now and they are slowly shutting down too,
My Bro-inlaw owns/runs the biggest night club in Plymouth http://www.thekarmanightclub.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and can have about 3k clubbers in the door each week-end but he too is unsure what will happen this year, He also has a guy that stands about with a tray full of glow sticks ect… (im not sure what they sell for) but can find out for you.
I think if you make sure the machine can light up and is in a good place it may work well, But for me the cost of the machine is too much.
It does look great tho and I wish you all the best..
Thanks
Ben

Petes right (again), you could waste a whole ton of money trying to develop a bespoke machine to vend this product and the product itself could well flop.PGBrew wrote:I see this as a toy product. Far better to use existing machinery out there to test the market first.
I reckon that petes idea of capsules should be your first priority.
They need to be £1 vend as that what 99% of capsule machines out there are set too..
Get a £l or Bouly correctly branded with all the neon graphics, offer a selection of the six different glow sticks, one per capsule to give an interesting mix and keep the customer pumping in the pounds to get the "full set" of course!
Probably 95mm caps are the only option and the stick may have to be bent a little, but what a cost effective way to market IMO!
cheers

Hi,
I think Night clubs are the only real outlet and I am concerned that after the initial wow period, ppl would not use them in great numbers. He would need to provide proven data for this to be a worthwhile investment.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Take a look at this
Hi Pete the product is suitable for children and adults and is aimed at Bars and Nightclubs, however it will work in children's venues too.
The vend price is actually £3 now. With regards to wall mounting, that's only an option. I have specially designed stands for the machines that enable me to have machines at different heights and move them around in each venue.
If i could bring the price down i will but, considering what you get in each tube it's a bargain. You wouldn't be able to get the same price online or in a shop without having to buy large amounts of product you don't need.
Vending the products in a capsule is a good idea but would be nearly impossible? Are there machines and capsules out there big enough to take a 6 inch glowstick or 7 inch glow bracelet?
As i have pointed out the machine has it's faults and is by no means perfect but with the investment i will be getting i will remedy any issues i have found.

Capsules is a good idea however i am not sure a 6 inch glowstick or 7 inch bracelet would fit in one? You certainly can't bend them either as they would activate.
