Just bought my first towers (South Lanarkshire)

Post by Tufty »

Hello,

I am totally new to vending but just purchased 11 second hand towers.

A couple are sited already and hopefully the rest will be before too long. Fingers crossed!

The forum is a fantastic resource for newbies like myself so I will be trying to learn as much as I can by binge reading over the next few days! Already hugely impressed with how helpful and welcoming the vending community appear to be. I have been chatting with Barbara at site finding and today Paul at Hurleys and both could not have been more helpful.

Currently the towers are heavily stickered so I have a busy weekend of cleaning up ahead of me,any tips appreciated!

Apologies in advance if I fill the forum with silly newbie questions

Hi Tufty

Welcome to the forum

Best advice I got when dealing with second hand towers that need cleaning is 'Sticky Stuff remover' made by De-Solv-It, stocked at some of the larger Tesco's its £4 each but well worth it.

One little tip as well, that you might not realise at first, is that when you put the rings back on the tower, make certain the little pointer on the base lines up with the centre line on the plastic ring, as I discovered the line on the ring and the little pointer are there for a reason, and if they are not correctly aligned you are in danger of the unit jamming when vending especially with the older vendors with all metal barrels.

Good luck

Richard

Good tip! Thanks Richard.

Any advice on the easiest way of getting one product 9 high out of the machine? Probably really obvious but I still haven't had a good play about with the machines yet so don't actually know.

Run the money thru the machine and vend them out. Although if u have skinny fingers u might be able to take top two out the top.

If you are cleaning the towers up, then the best way is to take the top nut off, and then lift the rings off 3 or 4 at a time to expose the stock, you can then wash and clean the rings before putting them back on.

there is a useful video on YouTube that shows you how to break a tower down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjkvOpx0J14

If you are emptying a whole tower at home just turn it upside down and shake.

Thanks guys!
I watched the video on you tube and then I took styles advice and turned upside down and shook it!
It s very early days for me but I am already realising that the Chinese machines seem like trouble.
On one the handle came off when turning and the other has a pot jammed in it.
I seem to have the knack of removing the coin mechanism on the Clenports but can't find it on the Zenjet. I will be scouring the forum for hints and tips not hat one.
