Alternative sales promotion

Post by chcvending »

I have been thinking.... a rare event I know, however I thought I`d run it by you old and wise sages of vending ... and of Onion........ I was speaking to one of my site licensees last night and suggested popping a raffle ticket or gold spot on the lid or base of one pot in each machine.... the raffle ticket/ spotted container would win the customer a free drink up to the value of 1 pint of draught beer (currently £1.80 i think) The landlord simply redeems the ticket with me
Now my questions are has anyone done this before ? Are there any "legal" implications with regards gambling as I can only state no purchase needed if they write to me and get me tp open a pot free of charge. And finally is this a stupid idea ?
as i said i dont do much thinking :)

Hi Shaun,
Well, if your identifier is visible, then the customers empty one line and get the free drink and leave the other lines. Therefore, you make much less on that line. For it to work, it has to be completely random and not visible to the customer. You have to state how many tickets are in the tower also, I would assume.

Thanks,

Paul

I cant see it being easy to spot anything written on the base of a pringles tin ? A customer would have to be pretty stupid to spend 8 or 9 pounds on a line of sweets to get a £1.80 drink ?? .... I dont operate in Wigan yet lol.... Obviously the winning can would be placed in the top and left to make its way through naturally . . . . . Its not a lottery or a raffle its merely a thankyou to a lucky customer and although I know where I put the tub . I have no control over which customer gets it as I dont live on the premises.
Landlord suggested marking base with a uv pen and if a customer buys a pot take it to the bar when buying his / her next drink and he`ll shove it under the black light... he likes the idea and would stand the cost of the drink himself.
Personally Im thinking the tubz vending(when I say tubz vending I dont mean tubz vending brands specifically ) are such poor value for money I want to make it a little more bearable. Why do tubz vending brands have such a substantial indentation in the base by the way as opposed to sweetfix or Hurleys ?
I have had some lid labels printed promoting chcvending..... maybe I will go for a collect 9 lids and get a tub free ......... I`ll try anything once and the good things twice what other ideas do people have for improving / boosting sales apart from charity branding . . . . there must be something ?

Hi Shaun,
Personally, I think you are over analysing vending. The main aim of any business is to make a good profit. The way to do this in tower vending is get lots of towers in good quality sites. Using gimmics is worth a try for sure, but it is not going to make a vast difference.

Thanks,

Paul

ur defnitely right about over analysis Paul....... lol.... wish I`d done that when considering marraige !!!
BUT occasionally by bandying about daft ideas something genius can emerge... maybe not from me but from others who see something and add their own views ... you never know a great idea could emerge

I have no plans to implement any mad cap scheme at the moment I was simply exploring "possible" sales boosters for the future as an alternative to charities branding . In reality I would probably go for a well presented machine with eyecatching decals and well displayed products. The rest is up to the venues and punters ... I`m not as daft as I look really.

Hi,

Its worth trying- thats for sure. Dont waste your money on bright decals, it just eats away at your bottom line. Not sure where you buy your stock from, but if its Hurleys, ask for some of their stickers, which are bright and free.

Thanks,

Paul

I wouldnt waste money , Id make em myself :) You can get away with brash and tacky in Blackpool.

Bought my first lot from tubz vending then Bookers had the 3.99 offer on so I stocked up on them.
Theres not much of a mark up on pringles when they are not on offer!!

Hurleys site is well out of date so pointless looking there !
