Post by popp665 »

Im sure this is a very simple fix but I cant fathom it out.........

Got a couple of mechs where certain pound coins the mech will only go a quater of a way round and then jams, it doesnt jam completley becuase you can turn the mech back and take the pound out. any ideas folks

Is it the little pointed finger that is getting into the coin holder and jamming it ??? If so they could be fake coins.

Hi,

Take the mech out and use a coin that wont vend properly. Insert the coin into the carrier and turn slowly. Watch the first steel finger rise as the coin travels. I suspect that the finger is catching the carrier, stopping the coin going araound. If this is the case, you need to file the end of the finger down on the bottom edge, so it lists out of the way when the coin comes past. It will still stop 20ps and pennies ok.

I hope this helps,

Paul

Cheers guys I worked it out for myself before I saw your replies! Paul you were right, cant work out why this would happen you would think the finger would file itslef down as the machine gets older not the other way round!

It happens quite a lot. I always have a couple of mechs in the van, with all the fixes in place.

Do you know how to stop the mech from being forced into a reverse vend. You use a half washer, on the lower finger. Just loosen the two side screws and slide a thin half washer, or 5p piece inbetween tyhe main mech body and the gun metal. The washer needs to cover the finger where it sits in the lug. Always try tthe mech through when you have done this to make sure the finger is springing ok.

Thanks,

Paul
