Seaga Coin Mechs and new pound coin......

Hi guys,

I have a couple of Seaga Pringles machines (6 column type, with a separate mech for each column), and I've been trying to get these ready for the new £1 coin.

Does anyone know if you can get replacement coin carriers for Seaga mechs? I've tried to modify myself, and although I have sucesfully done this with sweet towers, it doesnt seem to work in the same reliable way on these Seaga mechs (they vend fine with both new and old £1 coins after I've modified them, but then they jam after 20 or so turns

Any advice would be appreciated! I've attached pics of the mechs in question............

Thanks guys, I did try Seaga originally but their advise was to try and modify the mechs myself. Although this method works on most tower type mechs, these are different as they have a "pin" in the coin carrier, and if you grind these the coin falls through the mech. I also tried Nigel, but sadly his engineer agreed that these mechs with the pin cause problems. Just waiting to see if I can come up with anything else, as it would be a shame if these couldn't be converted as they are otherwise good machines! Cheers, Mark

Hi, I also have a number of these machines and am facing the same problem.

Have you managed to find a solution?

Seaga gave me exactly the same advice, pretty poor going in my opinion. Yes - the machines are old models, but it kind of puts me off buying anything new from Seaga if this is the level of their aftersales support.

Hi Nigel,

Sorry to say I gave up, sold the ones I had cheap, and moved on.... I could not get them accepting both coins in a reliable way. Saying that, now I no longer have them I believe it may be possible to get them accepting ONLY the new coins, as my problem was trying to get them to accept both simultaneously.

Its a shame as they were good machines, very sturdy and secure!
