Loose lids?

Post by newmark »

Hi all,

With a few of my machines I've had to add an extra washer to tighten them up, but the downside of this is that it makes the lid loose (as the more washers you add, the greater the distance between the lid and the top segment).

What does anyone do about this? I tried adding sticky pads under the lid, but these fall off. Any ideas?

Or do you just leave the lid loose?

Thanks again, Mark.

I wouldnt worry about that Mark. But also you may find it better to change the dimple ring rather than adding an extra washer.

Thanks Andy, I didn't think of that. Presumably it would be a good idea to replace the spring at the same time? Do springs and dimple rings cost much? Thanks again, Mark

I just swap them from broken machines so I dont know about cost. I also try and restretch some springs, probably a waste of time but I do it anyway.

Never changed a dimple ring or spring in ten years of tower vending. I would hacksaw a few mm off the bottom of the centre rod, cut it in two first if necessary.

Thanks PGBrew, good idea - I hadn't thought about that. However, I've bought a few new springs, so when I dismantle a machine I change the spring over which seems to do the trick (they are only £1 each, so not a big expense, and quite quick and easy to do).

I think I'm a bit paranoid about the machine clicking into place nicely - although it has not happened, so far!

Cheers, mark.
