Can Anyone advise?

Post by Maximus2009 »

Hi All,

I clipped a car doing my rounds in the van end of last year and did the right thing and left my details on the window, which has caused me to lose my No claims bonus!

Got a quote today full comprehensive of 1120 a year.... which was a bit of a shock to the system & third party, fire and theft 760 pa.

Question -

Thinking out of the box - can anyone offer any advise on cutting back the costs on this i.e get family member to get insurance and just be a named driver etc.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Not a solution sorry, but in future have a look at the protected no claims scheme. Well worth a few quid extra as it allows you 1 claim a year without losing your bonus.

Blimey thats expensive!! I just paid 1200 on my impreza with no no claims 1 stolen car, 1 flood damaged car, 2 crashes & the mrs with 6 points.

As Daz says try the comparison sites. How long have you been driving Danny?

Thanks for the feed back,

Does anyone know whether losing NCB on commercial vehicle affects your private car insurance or are they completely separate?

Hi,
Try Autonet insurance- Part of the RSA. They got my premium down loads.

Thanks,

it doesnt effect your bonus but your supposed to tell the private insurance when you renew so may effect your premium slightly, i tend to plead ignorance and pretend i didnt know you were supposed to tell them :shh:
